How to Turn Off iPhone Location Without Other Person Knowing

There are some situations when you need to hide your location without the other person knowing. Whether you are going out of town for a while or simply want to have some privacy, there are a few ways to stop sharing your location with others.

One way is to simply disable the ‘Location Services’ function on your iPhone. This will prevent the Find My app from reporting your exact location.

Go to Settings

Sometimes, you may not want to share your location with other people for a variety of reasons. For example, you might be in a place where you don’t want others to know where you are or you’d prefer to avoid sharing your location when meeting someone in person for an important personal event.

You can hide your location on an iPhone to do just that by using a few simple settings and apps. You can turn on Airplane Mode, hide your location on iMessage, and even disable Location Services.

Step 1: Go to Settings on your iPhone and tap “Privacy.” This will take you to the Privacy screen where you can control which apps can access your data. There are a lot of apps on the App Store that can use your information for targeted ads or other purposes, so it’s important to check the app permissions to ensure they don’t have access to any sensitive information.

Once you’ve got the Privacy menu open, scroll down to “Location Services” and make sure that the toggle in front of it is off. This will prevent the apps you install from gaining access to your current location.

Likewise, you can also hide your location on iMessage by selecting the conversation with a contact and then tapping the info icon to the right of their name. This will stop them from seeing your location on iMessage for the duration you select.

When you do this, they won’t get a notification, and they won’t be able to see your location on iMessage anymore. However, they will still be able to see that you’ve hidden your location from them in the Find My Friends app.

When you’re done hiding your location on an iPhone, you can easily reset the settings back to default. Simply go to Settings on your phone and tap Reset Location & Privacy. You can restore the previous settings from a backup, or set new ones if you need to.

Turn on Airplane Mode

Airplane mode is a feature of most mobile phones that allows the user to disconnect from the phone network. It’s especially useful if you need to turn off your internet connection and phone service quickly. It can also help if you’re trying to avoid overage charges on your cellular plan.

If you’re traveling abroad, airplane mode can help you avoid expensive international roaming fees. It’s also an effective way to conserve battery life, because your device isn’t constantly using a cellular connection and trying to find a Wi-Fi hot spot (which drains the phone’s battery).

You can use airplane mode to get some peace and quiet, or when you want to focus on something important without distractions. It’s a great way to silence your phone during an important meeting, or if you want to get some work done while on vacation but don’t want to deal with the constant notifications.

To turn on airplane mode, open Control Center (swipe down from the top-right corner of your iPhone model without a home button or swipe up from the bottom if your phone has a home button) and tap the airplane icon in the center. It will light up, and the device will enter airplane mode.

Once in airplane mode, you can’t send or receive any calls or messages, and cellular data won’t work. It’s also worth noting that if you have any location sharing or GPS connection features turned on, they’ll be disabled, so anyone who wants to track your location won’t be able to do so.

Go to Privacy

When you’re looking to hide your location from another person on an iPhone, it can be tricky. Luckily, there are several ways to do it without others knowing you’re using the feature.

One way is to go to Privacy on your device and disable the Share My Location button in Settings. This will prevent apps from sharing your location with Find My, iMessage, and Snapchat. It also will stop your phone from logging your location on any other iOS devices you have.

A second way to hide your location is to disable the Precise Location option on a per-app basis. This means that you’ll only show an approximate location to your friends in Find My and Messages, not a precise address.

This is a good choice if you don’t want others to know your exact address but just which city/neighborhood you are in. It’s especially useful if you’re using an app like Uber or Google Maps that need to know your location to get you where you need to go.

Apple has a great tool called Safety Check in Settings to review what permissions you’ve granted your apps and whether they’re still necessary. It also includes a list of those apps that can get your location data, along with their explanation for requesting access to it.

While most people don’t give a lot of thought to this, it’s worth checking what information each app has access to. You can even limit it by choosing “Never” next to any apps that request access, or revoke them in Safety Check if you don’t feel comfortable with their use of your location.

If you do want your location to be shared, though, there are other options available in Settings. For example, you can choose to “Ask Next Time or When I Share.” This lets you give an app location access only once and then close it. This is a great middle ground between never letting an app track you and giving it carte blanche to pinpoint your location whenever it wants to.

Go to Find My

You can hide your location on iPhone with the help of a number of apps. This can be a great way to get some privacy when you aren’t in the same place as your friend or partner.

However, there is a catch to this method. Once you turn off this feature, your friend or partner will generally receive an iMessage from Apple that you’ve stopped sharing your location. This can be a little awkward for those who have trusted you with their personal information.

In order to stop sharing your location with a specific person, you need to open their iMessage and find the location-sharing section. Once there, you can select the conversation that contains the location-sharing information and select “Stop sharing my location” from the dropdown menu.

Another way to hide your location is to disable “Precise Location.” This will let your friends or family know you are in a certain city but won’t give them the exact address. This is a good choice if you want to keep your location private from other people, but still want the option to be able to track you down when you are away from home.

If you don’t want to share your location with a particular person, you can also choose to disable “Approximate Location.” This will let them know you are in a certain area but won’t give them the exact address.

Activation Lock is a great way to prevent someone from accessing your personal information, including your iCloud backup. Moreover, you can erase your iOS device remotely to delete all of your data and reset the device.

There are a few ways to hide your location on iPhone, but the most common is by turning off “Find My Location.” This will prevent anyone from being able to locate your phone or use it for any other purpose.
