Live video on Facebook is a very useful feature, but it can also be annoying to have notifications pop up each time someone you follow goes live. Luckily, Facebook makes it easy to disable notifications for this feature so you don’t miss any action.

You can do this in Facebook on your desktop, iPhone or Android device. But be sure to make these changes on all of them before you go live, or else you’ll have to re-disable them on all of them.

How to Turn Off Notifications for Live on Facebook

Facebook Live has been a great way to share video and audio from your smartphone, tablet, or even desktop (using a webcam). It’s also a fun way to interact with friends. But there’s one thing that can get annoying: the constant notifications when someone you follow goes live.

If you’re tired of getting a notification every time a friend or page that you follow goes live, it’s easy to turn off the notifications for Facebook Live on Facebook. The following steps will help you stop all of those notifications on the web, and in the Facebook app for iPhone and Android.

  1. Open the Facebook app on your mobile device and tap the Menu icon, represented by three lines at the top of the screen.

From there, expand the Settings & Privacy section and then tap Settings.

On the resulting page, scroll down to Notifications and tap Edit.

There, you’ll find an option for Video that you can toggle off to turn off the live video notifications.

  1. If you’d rather not turn off all of your notifications, click the More button at the top of the screen to change your preferences for specific types of content.
  2. On the Facebook mobile app, tap the Menu icon, represented by three lines, and then scroll down to Notifications.

You’ll see a bunch of different types of notifications. These include Red Alert notifications, in-app notifications, and push notifications.

  1. If you’re using a Mac or PC browser, head to your Settings and then select Notifications.
  2. On the Facebook for iOS app, you can find the same option in Settings & Privacy, followed by Notifications.
  3. You can also disable all of your Facebook Live notifications in the same area as your other notifications, by choosing Edit Notifications Settings and then choosing Off.
  4. If you’re having trouble with notifications, check to make sure your mobile data is turned on for the Facebook app. Both iOS and Android have options to turn on background data for apps, which can help ensure that you get all the updates that you want from your apps.

Facebook has a number of notification settings that you can turn on or off to help control what notifications you receive. These include alerts, vibrations, ringtones and more.

How to Turn Off Notifications for Live on iOS

Facebook sends notifications to make you aware of important updates and events. These can range from red alerts (in-app notifications) to push notifications (when you don’t have the app open). But if you want to avoid receiving these, there are a few ways to turn them off.

First, turn off Do Not Disturb by turning it to Off through Settings or Control Panel. This can help to silence the phone so you can focus on other things or just take a break.

You can also temporarily silence all notifications by enabling the Silence switch on your iPhone’s left side. This will keep all notifications from vibrating until you return the switch to On.

Another option is to adjust notification settings for an individual app. To do this, launch the app and tap Notifications, then select Deliver Quietly or Turn Off.

While this method may be more effective than temporarily turning off Do Not Disturb, it won’t prevent the app from sending you notifications until you return the switch to On. You’ll still be able to see them in your Notification Center, but they won’t make noise or vibrate your phone.

If you’re on Android, you can also turn off Facebook Live notifications by visiting your profile or page and changing the default Highlights settings to Standard. This will stop you from getting a notification every time your friends or pages post something, but it won’t prevent you from seeing Facebook Live content.

One possible cause for your problem is the Facebook app’s cache files, which can sometimes become corrupt and result in notification issues. Fortunately, you can clear out the app’s cache by tapping Storage & cache on the app page. This will remove all of the app’s cache files, restoring the app to its normal function without affecting your account data.

Another possible reason for your issue is that the Facebook app isn’t running on the latest version. Luckily, updating to the latest app version is easy and free. To update, navigate to the App Store on your device or Google Play Store on your Android device and download the latest version.

How to Turn Off Notifications for Live on Pages

If you’re a fan of live videos on Facebook, you might be getting notifications when a page goes live. Luckily, you can turn these notifications off easily.

You can do this on both the Facebook app and desktop web browser. The mobile app also allows you to control the number of notifications you receive. You can choose to get a notification when a Page posts something or only get one per day.

First, open the Facebook app and mouse over the Following button. Then, click the pencil icon next to Notifications. You’ll see a couple of options here, including Highlights.

Change the Highlights option to Standard. This will limit the number of notifications you receive for a particular page, and should make you stop receiving alerts for all pages that use this feature.

Alternatively, you can disable the Live Videos feature entirely in the Facebook app’s notifications settings. It’s not the most intuitive process, but it will stop you from receiving a notification when a Facebook page goes live.

If you’re a Facebook fan on the go, you might want to make sure that you don’t miss any important updates while you’re out and about. That’s where the app’s background data feature comes in handy.

This feature is available on both iOS and Android. It’s free to enable and will help you save on mobile data.

The downside to this feature is that it can cause you to miss out on important updates from pages that you care about. To disable it on your iPhone, navigate to Settings and tap the Apps & Notifications tab.
